Colours and cushions!
Fresh new handmade things are zooming into the shop almost daily now, in anticipation of Christmas (and yes some people are way ahead of you and me on shopping for the big C..).
It really is almost like santa's elves when you think about it, as all this wonderful work originates from studios and workspaces all over Bristol and beyond, from the toil and craftspersonship of dedicated and talented hands.
These gorgeous glass coasters come individually and in sets of four, handcrafted by Dora McCormack.
They do look very toffee like and almost edible!
and they do literally fly out of the shop!

Red Ruby Rose at Makers!
We are delighted to now stock Red Ruby Rose clutch bags, that are extremely well made, clutch bags ideal for gifts, chic moments or special occasions.
They are inspired by her photography, illustration and love of textiles. Rowena, their maker, studied Printed Textiles at Edinburgh and went on to create a successful illustration career. She now focusses her creativity on these wonderful bags that are crafted from fine fabrics, dupion silk linings and gorgeous prints.

Teamed up with a Chez Williams cushion (below) here, you can see their contemporary yet slightly vintage charm goes really well with the styling in our shop.
And if you haven't been to the shop yet then you must! We have people who visit just to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the creative ambience, texture and feel of it all. Hope to see you there..

It's lovely to have a mezz!
Oops sorry for the long silence over the sunny months... But we are here on Colston Street and super shiny after a surprisingly busy summer holiday (so Bristol does have tourists-just not many sunny months?).
Here are a few photos taken from our lovely mezzanine, showing off the shop from new angles, and it's a little plug for a spare workshop space we have up there to rent. It's a unique space for anyone who might like a getaway to work in, yet not be isolated. Do get in touch if you are interested via info@makersbristol.co.uk.
More pics coming soon of new lovely things we have in for our autumn stock.

This wednesday is the day...
Hello followers!
As I mentioned in the previous post it is Bristol Independents day this wednesday (4th july, wow where did june go?).
It's a day to celebrate local businesses for all the local colour & individuality they reflect back to us amidst the mass produced mix of a world we live in.
We will be providing free designer cakes on the day for all those who visit Makers here in Colston Street, and a prize for the first customer of the day.
So here is a tempting taste of this curiously creative and uniquely local shop & gallery, come and see it for yourself in real 3D my friends..

Before and After!
We spent about a month repainting and wallpapering so that the shop looks lovely and bright (we're thinking St. Ives!). The little photos show how it looked prior to our seaside-inspired transformation..
And here are a few close-up tasters of our creativity, and there is more coming in all the time..

We run the shop & gallery together so do pop in and you may catch us in the process of making some work in there (meet the makers!). Commissions always welcome, and admiring browsers too..

MAKERS opening was a smasher!
Thank you SO much to everyone who came and supported us on friday night..the shop has truly had an energetic launch. Fruit punch and wine flowed, peppered by fantastic fairy cakes (thanks Jo and Chez) and a stream of enthusiastic folk through our doors..
We had wonderful helpers giving out MAKERS flyers to willing passers by & offering delicious cakes round. Our very first live band played sizzlingly on the mezzanine; Snails! This is hopefully just a hint of more local musician action to come..
It was a bit cramped up there but the music was brilliant! We particularly loved the opening 'shop' song written by Dan especially for us, thanks Dan, Mog and Jo for all your hard work and sweet sounds.
Watch this MAKER space for photos and details of new locally made work as it comes in from our lovely makers..
